Salem, November 1, 2025 - In a world where sustainability meets adventure, the WOGI EuroTaste Ride is set to redefine how we experience Europe's culinary heritage. Launching on March 1, 2026, this groundbreaking 8-month, 18,000 km cycling expedition will traverse 28 countries, weaving together the threads of local flavors, eco-conscious farming, and innovative tourism. As a flagship initiative under the World Gastronomy Network Inc. (WOGI), the tour serves as the vibrant precursor to the ambitious CYCLEFOOD NEXUS EU project, spotlighting the vital role of agriculture and rural development in building resilient food systems.
Picture this: A dynamic duo - a father and son - pedaling through sun-drenched vineyards in Portugal, misty highlands in Scotland, and bustling markets in Italy, stopping at 38 meticulously curated Gastro Roadshows. Each event transforms a city's heart into a celebration of its national dish – from the hearty Francesinha in Porto to the iconic Haggis in Glasgow - prepared live by local chefs using ingredients sourced directly from nearby farms. These aren't just meals; they're immersive experiences that highlight short food supply chains, connecting farmers, tourism leaders, municipal sustainability officers, and cycling advocates in collaborative dialogues.
"At its core, the WOGI EuroTaste Ride is about bridging plates and pedals to foster a greener Europe," says Gabor Andras Varga, visionary founder of WOGI. "By engaging over 38 communities, we're not only mapping consumer needs and producer innovations but also laying the groundwork for the CYCLEFOOD NEXUS project - a 36-month EU endeavor starting November 2026, powered by AI-driven recipe personalization, blockchain-traced supply chains, AR/VR-enhanced tours, and an interactive 3D mapping app."
This transdisciplinary consortium, comprising seven partners from Slovakia, Sweden, Spain, Turkey, Poland, and Romania, is already buzzing with momentum. Collaborations with heavyweights like Visit Sweden - which will feature the events in its 2026 newsletters and amplify them via international media - and the European Commission's Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development (DG AGRI), sharing content across its channels, underscore the tour's alignment with EU priorities on sustainable agriculture, rural vitality, and the Farm to Fork strategy.
The WOGI mobile app, debuting alongside the tour, will supercharge this ecosystem: A 3D interactive map pinpointing farm-to-table hotspots, AI-generated personalized recipes from local bounty, sustainability-focused cooking courses, and built-in social features to connect global foodies. And that's just the appetizer - upcoming phases will dive into metaverse experiences, expanding the network's reach exponentially.
As Europe grapples with climate challenges and evolving food demands, the WOGI EuroTaste Ride isn't merely a ride; it's a revolution on two wheels. It empowers small-scale producers, boosts rural economies, and invites citizens to savor a sustainable future.
